Oh, I thought you said JACK Bauer...

Summary:

White House Counsel, Greg Craig, is being replaced for a veteran white house lawyer Bob Bauer because of a dispute over plans to close the U.S. military prison in Cuba. Democratic officials said Craig was ousted because of frustration over his handling of the plans to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay.
Personally, I feel bad for Mr. Craig. I feel as if he's being used as a scapegoat for other people's mistakes and mess ups. Craig was one of the lawyers defending then-President Bill Clinton during his impeachment trial. He also became an early and active supporter of Obama, which probably angered supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton. Even the roles in government have become a popularity contest.

Konichiwa Obama-san!

Summary:

This afternoon, President Barack Obama began an eight day journey that will take him to five cities in four countries. He is taking this trip to discuss to the Asian business leaders the importance of Southeast Asian Nations economic alliance.

Now, this worries me. It makes me wonder, is our economy so bad that our President has to travel to different countries to ask them for money? It also makes me question the competence of our country's leader. On this eight day business trip to potentially save our economy, President Obama decided it would be a good idea to visit places of his childhood. NEWS FLASH MR. PRESIDENT! STOP MIXING BUSINESS WITH PLEASURE! THIS IS WHY PEOPLE HATE YOU!

Michele Bachmann is down with GOP! Yeah you know me!

Summary:

Michele Bachmann is a very popular choice to lead the GOP. But with health care reform gathering momentum as the Democratic bill entered final debate in the House, she took her typical route around, not through them.

This woman is absolutely NUTS. She may be a good candidate for the GOP, mainly because of her conservative views, but the Minnesota congresswoman's idea of getting her point across is leading an angry mob about the new health care bill taking over 18% of the American economy. Also, her ridiculous comparison of President Obama to FDR and LBJ did nothing but cause me to chuckle. The icing on the cake was her praise for Senator Joe Wilson. The GOP followers better watch out, because if this woman is in charge, they're in trouble.

H1N1 R2D2

Summary:

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan believes that students are doing a great job of trying to prevent the spread of germs. He also believes that the new H1N1 vaccine could not come soon enough, especially because of how much the swine flu has effected schools around the country. The only problem is, there is not enough of the vaccine for people, including the ones who are at the greatest risk.

The Center for Disease Control has estimated 4,000 deaths caused by swine flu, and just this week about 35o schools were shut down. In my opinion, I believe this is a serious illness, but people are blowing everything way out of proportion. As a survivor of "Swine '09," I know first hand that a lot of the violent results could be prevented. I also believe that it is a good thing that the vaccine was created so people could get it, but I don't understand why it would be distributed if there was clearly not enough for everyone, including those at risk, to receive it. And commenting on Mr. Duncan's belief that children are doing a relatively decent job trying to prevent the spread of germs, obviously they are not doing that great of a job because look at the statistics! 4,000 deaths.

No Fat Chicks!

After the first failed attempt, Governor Patterson pushed to pass the soda tax once more. The tax is a way to help prevent obesity in America.

In my opinion, I think this is a great idea. The way American's today are is just repulsive. Some people eat fast food, drink fattening soda, and don't exercise every day. This tax will encourage cheap Americans to stop drinking non-diet soda, or maybe even soda altogether. Patterson's been trying to raise over 500 million dollars to pass this tax, but again, greedy American politicians are rejecting it. Hopefully, the tax will pass, and we'll be one step closer to no longer being the "world's fattest country."

NObama?

A poll was done showing that a percentage of the population believe that President Obama doesn't care enough about today's issues. An increase of 10% since his April of this year. Surprisingly, Hillary Clinton was said to be the most popular politician, receiving the majority of the votes.

In my personal opinion, I believe that President Obama is being like any other president I've been alive to see. I do believe that he believes that the issues we have are important, but he also likes the popularity. He's focusing on things HE sees to be important, such as Chicago winning the bid for the 2012 Winter Olympics. It's also funny how these people are judging him as if they could do a better job. When a common citizen finds a better health care plan, that's when I'll change my opinion about Obama, but until then, I'm stuck at point A.

Health Care: The New Baby Daddy

Summary:
After the passing of the new Health Care Bill, Democrats are already threatening to block the bill from getting to the President's desk due to the prohibition on abortion. The new bill does not cover the expenses of abortions. Even private insurance companies are being told to deny anyone under health care reform from purchasing a plan including abortion coverage.

In my opinion, I believe that the health care bill should be changed. It is not up to the government to decide what is right for a woman to do to her body. Although some may find abortions morally wrong, it could potentially save someone's life. Since the unemployment rate and poverty rate is constantly increasing, it is all the more reason to add abortion coverage to the health care bill.
